Purpose


While ChatGPT and Bing AI use the Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) language model, they are separate platforms. ChatGPT is a multipurpose chatbot. Bing AI's advanced language model and unified search engine produce more reliable and accurate data. Unlike ChatGPT, Microsoft did not train Bing on a limited dataset. Instead, it uses its search engine to pull out timely, relevant information about world events and general knowledge questions.


Mathematical Precision


ChatGPT and the Bing AI understand math. Bots can analyse equations, perform computations based on your dataset, and generate outputs through your language model. Both tools can solve basic arithmetic as well.


You definitely can't expect 100% accurate results. But Bing's dataset demonstrates higher accuracy and understanding than ChatGPT's.


Security Measures


Cybercriminals began abusing ChatGPT almost immediately. Some viewed ChatGPT as a cyber security threat that gives miscreants the ability to write spam emails, develop malware, and create phishing links.


OpenAI recognises these issues. The company disclosed that ChatGPT may produce biassed or harmful content, although developers continually work on security.


Bing's AI bot faces the same cybersecurity risks. It combats them by imposing stricter limits, reducing the platform's susceptibility to jailbreaking. If you mention something out of the ordinary, the conversation ends.


Accessibility


The reach of ChatGPT is limited. It doesn't have a mobile or desktop application, so users must always go to its website.


Alternatively, the Bing AI offers cross-platform access. Its chat feature is available on Bing, Microsoft Edge, Bing's mobile app, and even Skype. For AI assistance, simply add Bing to your Skype group chats.


Perhaps the only limitation of Bing AI is that you cannot run it on third-party browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Safari, and Google Chrome. You must download Microsoft Edge. Although this seems trivial, you might find it inconvenient if Edge is not your default browser.


Sign-Up Process


Signing up for ChatGPT is actually quite simple. Simply create an OpenAI account, register for ChatGPT, and wait for confirmation.


Initially, it took longer to sign up for the new Bing AI. The first users spent weeks on a waiting list before being approved, especially in the U.S. People outside the U.S.


Now, Microsoft has removed the waiting list. Users get instant access after creating an email account and downloading Microsoft Edge.


Functionality


Bing's AI bot has a more advanced language model and a wider dataset, enhancing its functionality over ChatGPT. It even uses its own search engine before answering. You can expect to receive more accurate, reliable responses and more up-to-date information.


Bing's tight security measures inhibit versatility. Conversations are automatically ended when you violate the guidelines, plus you'll need to start a new topic every 15 messages.


Fees


ChatGPT is a free, robust, multipurpose chatbot. Users can perform a lot of tasks with the GPT-3.5 language model. But if you need a more sophisticated AI assistant, then OpenAI offers ChatGPT Plus for $20 a month.


Subscription fees are unnecessary expenses. Instead of losing $240 a year on ChatGPTPlus, explore Bing's AI first. It already runs on GPT-4, and since Microsoft plans to monetize Bing through advertisements, the platform will likely remain free.
